About
I got my first taste of woodworking from Preacher Long at Vacation Bible School as a kid at First Baptist Church of Belmont, North Carolina. Our VBS project was to make checkerboards and checkers out of plywood, pine, and walnut. The next year we made horse-drawn planters out of plywood and ice cream pails. My first real instruction was in shop class in the ninth grade. Never really had any tools of my own until after I got married.
My first major purchase was a Shopsmith Mark V. The projects have come a long way since those early days and the tools have gotten bigger and more expensive. I now have a shop that is a lot more than a corner in the garage. As the tools and projects have grown, the passion for crafting things from wood has grown as well. Hopefully, this will become a full-time passion in retirement.
I love crafting a project from an idea to a reality. Please reach out if you have an idea for my next piece.
